El Real de laJara to Monestario

Walked with Gerry and Laia, out of town down quiet road through farms, past another castle, falling down. Great views in the early morning light. Following Hans and knees. Got to one of many major new freeways in this part of Spain. I guess this is where part of their debt has gone. Hope the Germans appreciate it. Makes the roads we are walking on quieter. Managed to cross a major interchange (remember to look left) then walked through a shady eucalyptus path. Another big hill into Monesterio. We are all staying in a hotel, but catch up for a drink in a street with lots of kids playing football. The Irishman gets a large beer, then the Germans turn up and they get a huge beer ie one litre, so the Irishman has to have one too. The German's English improves, and it turns out Knees is Croatian and his name is Frano. We manage to have a conversation about Frano Botica, the only famous Croatian/new Zealander I can think of and I have a new best friend. Then Frano shows us his pace maker and explains how he was dead for 2 minutes on his last Camino. And the irishman's Spanish has improved.
