The French are looking at an early exit after losing to 20 to Mexico, and the Serbs stepped up to beat Germany 10, throwing Australia a life-line in the process. Can the Socceroos step up and beat Ghana? After that big loss in the first game, the Australians are already in a sudden death scenario. To win the World Cup they need to win the next 6 in a row. At the very least they need to win back some belief and respect.
England stumbled again to a 0-0 draw against Algeria. The England manager Fabio Capello says he cannot recognise the team from its pergormances. Some teams are starting to hit their straps, others have yet to find their feet. If the Socceroos don't make the second round, they could be in fine company on the plane leaving South Africa.
