Toledo - Italy v New Zealand

This is old news now but worth a quick mention here anyway.

While we were in Toledo we stopped to watch the Italy v New Zealand game in a bar. There was a good happy atmosphere. There was a couple in front of us, the guy was wearing an Italy shirt. I assumed he was Italian and said "hello". It turned out he is from Venezuela but has Italian parents so he understood Italian and spoke it, as well as Spanish but no English. The woman with him was also from Venezuela and she spoke really good English and Spanish. It turned out they had got married a week earlier and were on their honeymoon. Nice couple. We had a conversation in which Marianne spoke English to her and Spanish to him, I spoke Italian to him and Spanish to her and English to Marianne, and she spoke English to Marianne (and me sometimes) and Spanish to him (and me sometimes) as well as translating for anyone who couldn't understand what was being said!

Nice couple, and good result. He was a gentleman about his disappointment too.

The other thing that happened was a little after New Zealand got their goal. The barman went out and shut the grille to lock the bar! When he came back in, he said to everyone to stay calm, he just wanted to watch the game too and didn't want to have to serve customers who weren't already in the bar!! Only in Spain....?
