For those of you who have read "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, the Els Quatre Gats (The Four Cats) is the cafe where Barcelo and Daniel Sempere met and where Daniel first set eyes on Clara, his niece. In real life it is a cafe that was frequented by Picasso and other notables.
Marianne and I met with a friend of Marianne's, Laia (and her boyfriend Mick), who is from Barcelona. They met on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Lovely people and really pleased to have met them. Unfortunately it was a brief meeting because Marianne suddenly felt unwell and we had to go back to the apartment in a hurry. Probably something she ate, at least that's what we're hoping, fingers crossed.
