Return to Barcelona

We are back in Barcelona. We're here for little more than 48 hours. It seems like we've only just arrived *we left Lisbon at 9:30 yesterday morning) and yet we fly out again tomorrow, going to Madrid. Very poor planning and timing here because we fly out at 4PM, which is also when the Socceroos kick off their do-or-die match against Ghana. How could I have planned this so badly? Grrrr.

Despite this muck up it is wonderful being back here. It has lost none of the charm it had when I left 2 weeks or so ago!! We went for a long walk through the suburbs down to the historic part of town. Once there we enjoyed watching the Fre3nch go down to Mexico while enjoying some wonderful tapas and a beer. If you hate anchovies, don't look at the attched picture - my tapas plate of anchovies, I love 'em. Marianne had the best squid (calamari) I think I've ever tasted.

We then had a coffee in the Plaza Real where we watched several Mexicans go ballistic as a result of their victory over the French, while the French kept up their usual arrogance but with a lower profile. We rounded off a happy day with a "Barcelona special" ice cream. Mmm-mmm, yum :-)
